Pyrodrones in Bali: From the Sofitel Pilot to Alila Uluwatu

By iDrone Editorial Team

Two Bali weddings trace iDrone’s pyrodrones journey: a successful Sofitel pilot, a one-year SORA milestone, and a second show at Alila Uluwatu.

Within one month, two Bali weddings marked important steps in iDrone’s pyrodrones development. The Wedding of J & E at Sofitel Nusa Dua on 8 August 2026 served as a successful pilot event. Christina and Andrew’s wedding at Alila Villas Uluwatu on 30 August 2026 then became iDrone’s second pyrodrones show in Bali.

Sofitel as the Pilot Event

The Sofitel show combined 200 drones with rings, hearts, music, personal messages, and a monogram. Pyrotechnic effects appeared only at selected moments, including starbursts and the finale, allowing the team to demonstrate the creative concept and operating procedures in a live event.

A One-Year SORA Milestone

Following the successful Sofitel pilot and the trust placed by DKPPU, the scope of iDrone’s SORA-based operational approval for pyrodrones is valid for a full year. SORA is a methodology for assessing specific operations, bringing ground and air risk, mitigations, safety objectives, and operating procedures into one structured assessment.

From Nusa Dua to Uluwatu

The second show carried that experience into a different setting. Alila Villas Uluwatu has a distinctive clifftop landscape, while the sequence was made for Christina and Andrew through hearts, a name, Cupid, characters, wedding messages, bells, and a pyro finale.

What the Milestone Means

A one-year validity period does not make every event automatic. The location, airspace, audience layout, weather, and operation plan still need to be assessed for each show. The milestone provides an evaluated operating framework for planning future pyrodrones shows with consistent safety discipline.

Pyrotechnics as a Story Accent

Both events follow the same creative principle: drone formations carry the story, while pyrotechnics add emphasis. This keeps the finale powerful without obscuring the names, symbols, and messages that make each wedding unique.
